Meet Our Principal
Welcome to the 2025 - 2026 school year here at Bishop Arts STEAM!

With 25 years of experience, Chucky Viernes comes from the island state of Hawaii, where he was taught the important of public education is serving a diverse community. As a great-grandson of a sugar plantation immigrant of mixed ethnicity, Mr. Viernes strives to serve as a role model and a fierce advocate for all students. He attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he received his Bachelor of Education degree and teacher certification. He also completed his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Viernes is in his third year of service in Dallas ISD, most recently as the Assistant Principal of Bishop Arts STEAM Academy. Each year, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to positively impact student outcomes. Before joining Dallas ISD, Mr. Viernes taught for seven years and served as an assistant principal, principal, and District administrator for neighboring Garland ISD. He is a team-building, motivational leader, with a focus on student achievement. He has been known for building a conductive culture for students and adults, fostering a collaborative environment, and providing a clear vision for the schools he serves.
Mr. Viernes is happily married to a fellow Dallas ISD employee and has two children, Cody and Taylor. He is excited to continue serving as, now, the Principal of Bishop Arts STEAM Academy for the 2025-2026 school year.
